The M.F. McHugh Unit at Youville CentreM.F. McHugh Education Centre provides English-language educational programming for students in the Ottawa-Carleton region who are in government approved care and treatment programs. At Youville Centre, clinical and educational staff continue the tradition of a strong and effective partnership. Working from a multi-disciplinary and highly collaborative approach, a caring and supportive environment has been established for young mothers and their children. Educationally, an individual Educational Plan is designed for each of our students. The goal is to encourage each student to reach her full educational potential and to instill a passion for life-long learning. The M. F. McHugh Education Centre provides educational programs to students of all grades whose current needs cannot be met within their home school or range of local school board services. All programs are delivered in partnership with a number of Ottawa Carleton treatment, care or correctional agencies, who work in a collaborative manner with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and/or the Ministry of Community, Family and Children's Services. These partnerships provide for an interdisciplinary approach to service delivery in assessment, treatment planning, intensive intervention, discharge planning and follow-up services. The Ottawa Carleton Catholic School Board currently acts as the lead board providing the administrative support and structure necessary for the daily functioning of M.F. McHugh under the terms outlined in Section 20 of the Education Act. |
