It has been said that, “it takes a village to raise a child”, and that statement couldn’t be more true than at Youville Centre. We are fortunate to have wonderful people and organizations in our “village” whose support allows us to provide innovative programming for our young mothers and their children. Wße have so many people to thank. The list below represents some of the most significant contributions we received this year.
TELUS Ottawa who, together with the TELUS Ottawa Community Board, have provided generous support for Youville Centre’s young mothers in the following ways
• Providing start-up funding for our Mentorship Program
• Selecting Youville Centre as a grant recipient for our Student Support Department
• Providing gift cards for each of our young mothers at Christmas
• Volunteering on-site to help improve our building
• Providing funding for programs and services through their Dollars for Doers Program, Employee Giving Program and Community Ambassadors Program.
United Way Ottawa who, in addition to working with us to spread our message in the community, awarded us with the Community Builder of the Year Award for Growing Up Great, and have provided funding for the following programs:
• Me, My Baby, Our World Parenting Program
• Mental Health and Addictions Counselling at Youville Centre (including Project s.t.e.p.)
The City of Ottawa, for providing subsidized childcare spaces for our centre.
The Ministry of Children and Youth Services for providing funding for our Student Support Program.
The Don & Shirley Green Family Foundation, The Danbe Foundation and Dennis
& Dorothy Jackson for their generous contributions to our Mentorship Program.
Soeurs de la Charite d’Ottawa and Congregation of Notre Dame, Visitation Province for their steadfast support over the years.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation for providing funding to support mental health services at Youville Centre.
Hassa Mirchandani (Bytown Travel Ltd.) for his continual support and advocacy for our centre, as well as contributions made annually from his Bytown Travel Golf Classic.
Bon Appetit Ottawa for choosing Youville Centre as one of the recipient charities from its annual food-themed fundraiser.
